Dr Brent Matthews
Brent's medical career commenced in 2000 when he trained and served as a Medical Assistant in the Royal Australian Air Force, discharging from full time service in 2008. He completed a Bachelor of Nursing through Charles Sturt University in 2004 and Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery through Flinders University in 2010. After completing internship he has undertaken prevocational training in orthopaedics at Royal Darwin Hospital and the Princess Alexandra Hospital. His interests are orthopaedic trauma, arthroplasty and arthroscopy. Brent hails from the Northern Territory, where he has developed a keen interest in rural/remote health and indigenous health. After completion of a FRACS (ortho) he plans to provide a surgical service to Darwin and the Northern Territory. He presented ‘The Outcomes of Indigenous Joint Replacement in the Top End 2008 – 2012’ at the Australian Orthopaedic Association, Annual Scientific Meeting Darwin 2013.
